Trigger Warning: Please be advised that this work of poetry contains graphic depictions and descriptions of self-harm that may be found disturbing or upsetting tosome readers.
Blood unleaks against
gravity into my arm.
A knife unpresses from
flesh & refolds closed.
Skin slowly sews together,
fiber by fiber restitching itself.
Pain stings vertically across the face
as it disappears from top to bottom.
Shaking re-begins at the fingertips,
traveling to the toes as anxiety reappears.
Tears untrail off the floor,
up the unblushing cheeks,
into the drying eyes.
Breathing unquickens as
air uninhales from uncontracting lungs &
muscles untense.
