10 Activities That Should Be On Your Mizzou Fall Bucket List

Fall. One word with only four short letters. Just the word fall gives me chills, it is one of the best times of the year! Not only is it a great time of year everywhere, it especially is in Columbia, Miss. The weather starts to cool off with crisp air outside, the leaves start to change, and the smell of pumpkins fill every coffee shop and home whether it be a latte or scented candle. Fall is the perfect time of year for taking in the atmosphere of every fall festivity with the best friends and family.

1. Go to a Miz football game…duh?: it doesn’t take a lot of convincing to get someone to attend a game at one of the most spirited and best football schools in country. Get ready Tigers, it’s game day!

2. Go on a walk or take a nap in Peace Park: one of the most relaxing and serene places to walk around or take a nap on a blanket at. With the park being steps away from campus, there is no excuse when fitting it into a busy fall schedule.

3. Drink a pumpkin spice latte, or two: one of the best known things to Starbucks or any coffee shop is a latte with a little pumpkin spice and everything nice mixed inside. Sit back, relax, and sip the cup of goodness while it lasts.

4. Take a trip to Shyrocks: one of the coolest corn mazes around! Only 15 minutes away from Columbia, it is a perfect excuse to get out of town and have some fun without really getting out of town.

5. Host a pumpkin carving gathering: grab some pumpkins and maybe some candles too! Get a group of friends together to carve out some unique and cool shapes. Make it a contest!

6. Head on over to the Roots 'N Blues 'N BBQ festival: an attraction that draws many out-of-town people, should be at the top of your fall to-do list. Since it's minutes away from campus, go all weekend or even for just a night!

7. Make gourmet caramel apples: go apple-picking or buy some apples at the store, find the caramel candy and get to work crafting up some delicious fall treats.

8. Take a Saturday adventure to the Columbia Farmers Market: with the farmers market only being open for a few more short weeks, it’s time to get out and try some fresh produce from local farmers around the area.

9. Go to a haunted house: whether you like scary things or not, it is always an interesting night if you get a group of friends together to go to a haunted house.

10. Go to a Halloween party and dance the night away: there is nothing more fun than a crazy Halloween party, where everyone can dress completely out of the norm for one night while being completely crazy on the dance floor.

Whatever the day or weekend brings, make sure to get out of the house and make the most of your fall experience at Mizzou. You only have a few fall seasons in Columbia while being a Mizzou student, so make them count! Pick one thing off the list or even conquer all 10, but one thing is for sure: do something out of the norm this fall.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
