Trump seems determined to slowly, yet effectively, destroy his campaign and hand the victory over to Clinton. The first new damning thing was insulting the parents of a fallen Muslim soldier. Although now he calls the son a hero, the bridges have been burned by his words and there probably isn’t anything he can do to save face with the family. Social media was filled to the brim with the stories and admonishments from all sides.
Recently, he has made another blunder, although one less cold than insulting parents who still mourn the loss of their son. Trump claims to have seen secret footage of Iran receiving 400 million dollars in cash from the U.S., and also claims that they gave us this same tape in order to embarrass us. This was fueled by a recent prisoner release from Iran, and Iranian officials just happened to be paid 400 million around the same time.
It sounds suspicious, but the money was to settle a failed arms deal back in 1979. So where does this leave Trump’s claim? In the realm of fantasy of course. Intelligence officials say that they don’t know what he’s talking about, but what seals the lid over the coffin of Trump’s claim is that neither Clinton nor Trump have received general intelligence briefings.
This isn’t surprising considering the fact that he claimed he saw a video where thousands of Muslims cheered on roof tops in New Jersey after the terrorist attacks on 9/11, and no such video has any footage of any person cheering for these deaths. These ludicrous and callous actions continue to solidify my belief that he’s throwing this election for Clinton. Romney wasn’t this bad when he ran against Obama, nor was McCain. I could even give Bush a round of applause for trying to create solidarity with Muslim Americans after the terrorist attacks. He made it clear that the war on terror was not against Islam, but against those who hated America. Unfortunately, some Republicans didn’t see the same as he did.
What can be said of Donald Trump? Can he repair relations with the groups he’s attacked? Not likely. His words would be mostly lies and a way to save face. Also, what does this little incident say about his ability to keep private information away from the public? Although I’m not a fan of secrets of the government at times, I understand why it has to be done. There are masses of people who could easily misconstrue what they don’t understand and send this country spiraling into chaos (Now if the people found out about something crooked, the officials involved in it should answer for anything illegal). Trump is an excellent example.
Yes, I know what some people might say to counter this, citing Clinton’s e-mail scandal. Fair point, but Trump’s video was fake and he still told everyone that it was a secret video. What do you think he’ll do with real information?
