The Ultimate Fighting Championship will be at the Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile as UFC Fight Night 129 will be going down this Saturday, May 19, 2018. In the main event Welterweights clash as #5 ranked Demian Maia faces #7 ranked Kamaru Usman in a huge fight for the division. The Co-main event will be in the Woman's Strawweight division with #9 ranked Alexa Gasso meets #12 ranked Tatiana Suarez.
In Light-heavyweight division Jared Cannonier will meet Dominick Reyes. We will see action in the Bantamweight division as Diego Rivas faces Guido Cannetti. Then in the Woman's Flyweight division Veronica Macedo meets Andrea Lee. To open up the Main Card welterweights will clash with Vicente Luque goes up against Chad Laprise.
Mix-Martial Arts Veteran Demian Maia will step into the octagon once again to replace Santiago Ponzinibbio who was originally scheduled to face Usman in the main event but injured his hand during training. The last time we saw Damian in the Octagon was at UFC Fight Night 119 when he faced off against Colby Covington but lost the bout via unanimous decision as he was dominated a majority of the fight.
A win over Usman can potentially put him back on the right path to breaking into the top 3 of the welterweight division and get closer to being booked for another title shot or a possible bout with the winner of Colby Covington vs Rafael Dos Anjos coming up in Chicago. The devastating Kamaru Usman was last seen when he faced Emil Meek and won the bout by unanimous decision. He was criticized for his performance that night by fans but overall put a dominating performance.
There has been some bad blood brewing within the welterweights as Colby Covington and Usman have been gunning for each other's heads. A huge win for Usman over Maia can give him that bout he has been asking for with Colby or he could face Santiago later this year because they were originally set to fight anyway.
Alexa Gasso last took on Rando Markos in August of last year when she defeated Markos by a close fight via split decision. With an impressive win over the undefeated Tatiana Suarez Alexa can get closer to breaking into the top 5 strawweight in the woman's division. She can really make her presence known in the UFC f she can completely derail Tatiana this Saturday.
Tatiana was recently seen at UFC Fight Night: Poirer vs. Pettis when she defeated Viviane Pereira via unanimous decision. Tatiana has an undefeated record of 5 wins and 0 losses with no plans of slowing down anytime soon. A win over Alexa can break Tatiana into the top 10 fighters in the division. Also, getting closer and closer to becoming a contender for the title that is supposedly gonna be defended this year.
Light-heavyweights go to battle as Jared Cannonier looks to bounce back from that decision loss he suffered from against Jan Blachowicz back at UFC On Fox: Lawler Vs Dos Anjos. A win over Dominick Reyes could be big for him if he can also defeat an undefeated fighter within the Light-heavyweights and possibly break into the top 15. The undefeated Dominick Reyes is looking to put on a fantastic performance again as looks to get the win this Saturday. A win for Reyes can improve upon his winning record and set him up for a big bout to break into the rankings.
Diego Rivas is coming off of a defeat to Jose Alberto Qinonez by decision at Fight Night: Pettis Vs Moreno. That was his only loss so he looks to get back on track and learn from the mistakes he made in his last bout, Guido Cannetti is also coming off of a loss which was at the hands of Kyung Ho Kang who defeated him by Triangle Choke so he is also looking to bounce back and the victory so he can brush that last off of him and focus on breaking into the top 15 of the division.
To open up the card welterweights will collide with Vincente Luque looking to add another tally to the win column and build upon the win he got in his last fight against Niko Price. A win over Chad can really put the rest of the division on notice. Chad Laprise is looking to keep his 3 win fight streak live with another win over Vincente. If he can get the victory he can also make a statemnt in the very well stacked Welterweight Division.
