From being considered an average football team, to being one the best football teams in their conference, UCF football is now looking like a much better team. And with their recent win over the East Carolina Pirates, the Knights have an undefeated record of 5-0 for the first time in the school's Division 1 era. Without a doubt these Knights have made a huge turnaround compared to last season.
According to the ESPN college football rankings the UCF Knights are now ranked 20 among the top 25 football teams. One of the reasons why the team is playing well this season is their ability to have multiple offensive threats on the field. In an article from the Orlando Sentinel, during the homecoming game against the East Carolina Pirates a total of nine different players scored a touchdown in front of their fellow students/fans who erupted with exaltation knowing that the team is still undefeated in addition to having the highest total score so far in the season; 63 points. In the previous game against the Cincinnati they scored 53 points, the Knights haven't had a back-to-back fifty point game or more since 1997. An incredible achievement indeed for this football team, the Knights offense are such a threat that no team should be underestimating when facing off against them.
Scott Frost, the head coach of the UCF football, in an article from the USA Today, expresses his thoughts on the direction of the team and how they are performing, saying "Our team is playing together and caring about each other, that's so great to see." He continued on stating that "When somebody scores, everybody is happy for them and that don't exist on every team."
Teams are always great when everyone is on the same page and an example of that is the outstanding game that the Knights are had against the Pirates. However, if they want to continue winnin,g the team cant remain too confident--the next opponent is the Navy Shipmen, a team with a 5-1 record and, just like UCF, are ranked as the top football team in their division.
In an article for Fox Sports UCF head coach Scott Frost showed his respect for the Navy Shipmen, It will be more challenging as well, in addition to facing a top team this game will also be the Navy's homecoming game so emotionally the atmosphere will be more intense. Frost in an interview for the UCFSports said that "It's their homecoming. It's at their place. I'm kind of excited to see it. I have a lot of respect for what the Naval Academy is, what they stand for and how their kids play. They beat people because they play harder and they're smarter. I want our guys to play harder than them and be smarter. That's a challenge for us. We're going to have to prepare for it this week." The game will start on Oct 21st at 3:30pm.
