1. The overly zealous Christmas pushers.
Here at Liberty University, we started putting up our Christmas trees, lights, and wreaths BEFORE HALLOWEEN! Not going to lie, this made me a little upset. And I woke up this morning to several social media posts about how it's "officially Christmas season" and Snapchats of people listening to Christmas music. Noooooo! No. No. Thanksgiving is a really important holiday too, and I kind of feel bad for it since it's so often overshadowed by Christmas. I personally believe that while, yes, Christmas is magical, its traditions of getting together with family and having a nice, big meal are the same as Thanksgiving, except that Christmas includes presents. But I know full well that within the next few weeks before Thanksgiving break, I will be surrounded by people listening to Christmas music, talking about Christmas, discussing what they want and what to get other people, what plans they have, etc. Calm down, people. Yes, Christmas is exciting, but don't wear it out. Christmas is so special since it only comes once a year.
2. The people who wait until after Thanksgiving.
Ahhhh, the sensible people. Sorry to anyone who is on the other side of the spectrum, but the post-Thanksgiving people are where it's at. You see, you should get excited for Thanksgiving first!! Like I said before, I feel bad for the holiday. And honestly, Thanksgiving is such a nice one to celebrate. I am so excited to go home for Thanksgiving this year. I can spend the whole month of November looking forward to Thanksgiving. And once Thanksgiving is over – well, THEN I can get excited about Christmas. One thing at a time, you know? Time goes by so fast as it is already. We should try to slow down and appreciate every moment, even if Christmas does seem sometimes to be more exciting than Thanksgiving. Don't take any moment for granted. Enjoy the present!
