T'was The Night Before Check-In: The Disney College Program Series
Dana Saccoccio

T'was the night before check-in,

When all through I-Drive.

Not a lack of excitement

From the CPs arriving.

Our luggage was held with by eager souls with care.

In hopes that our roommates soon would be there.

The CPs were nestled, snug in resort beds

While visions of Traditions danced in our heads.

And Mama with tissues and dad and his cap

Had just driven away as our adventure elapsed.

The chatter begins as we pull into the complex.

We sprung to our apartments to see what's next.

Away to casting, we arrived with our pass

Tore open our suitcase, dreaming of hub grass.

The sun in our eyes as our new beginning unfolds

A luster of magic is sure to behold.

With tears in our eyes, we went off to Traditions

Meeting the purple arches, of what we've been wishing.

Our lovely bus driver, so lively and fun

We knew that great moments had just now begun.

More rapid than Test Track, we came with a flash

Into Disney University, we were official just like that.

Now Dana From Rhode Island College and Melissa from USC and Alyssa from Creighton University

On Amber, on Brie, on Haley, and Christian.

To the top of the castle! To the top of the purple wall!

Now dash away with your name tags, dash away all!

As we run to the parks, blue ID in hand

When we meet the place where our lives now stand,

So up to costuming and on to our role

Earning our ears, living out the tales we’ve been told.

And then, in a twinkle, our first magic was made

The prancing of happiness our heart just gave.

As we went through training, we started turning around,

Down came Mickey Mouse, he walked in with a bow.

He was dressed in red shorts with small yellow buttons

And his white gloves by his hips, he started to cut in.

A bundle of congratulations he had just got in,

He looked to us with a smile and started passing them out,

His eyes—how they glistened! his dimples, how merry!

His cheeks were like roses, his nose tiny like a penny.

He nodded his head and out the door he went

We were now official cast members, we knew what this meant.

We create happiness

We are the show.

We are the magic makers.

Creating memories that won't grow old,

As we fill with excitement, our program unfolds,

Soaking up every second, with stories worth being told.

Welcome home fellow cast members, let these moments be bold.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
