Twas the night before finals, when all through campus,
Not a student was sleeping, especially the anxious.
The textbooks were open and covered in tears,
Computer screens lit and students in fear.
The professors were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of paperwork clouded their heads.
My roommate in her hoodie, and I in my sweats,
Had finally gone to bed after a long day of fret.
When out in the hall, a noise broke the solitude,
I groaned and crept out to see who was so rude.
Slowly I went to the door with a sleep filled head,
Hoping that soon I would be back in bed.
When what to my drowsy eyes unfurled,
But a hover board, and eight giant squirrels.
With a maroon-clad owner, but not a classmate
I knew instantly it must be Saint Texas State!
He smiled and asked, "Why do you look so worried?"
"It's finals week, and my tests are so early!"
He chuckled heartily and slapped his knee,
As he cried out, "I know just what you need!"
He turned and reached inside of his knapsack,
And pulled out a giant "Finals Survival" backpack!
There were CliffsNotes, coffee and candy
A Netflix subscription and tips to keep handy.
Chick-Fil-A and infinite meal swipes,
The world's best nap and notes of all types.
Saint Texas State handed them over with pleasure,
Joy in him as he said, "That should make it better!"
I stood in awe, not sure what to say
Finally I stammered, "This is the best day!"
He nodded and saluted with the Eat Em' Up claw,
And said, "Congratulations on surviving this fall!"
He laughed and jumped on his hover board with ease,
And whistled to the squirrels ready to flee.
But I heard him yell as he rolled out of sight,
"Happy Finals to all, and to all a good Friday night!"
