Not having a TV in my dorm room was probably a good decision on my part. After all, I don’t watch enough TV to justify spending the money or wasting the precious dorm space on one. Still, being away from the TV means that you miss a lot.
Here are 10 things that happen when you finally turn on the TV after months of not watching one.
1. You make the mistake of turning on the news
With President Trump, every day is an interesting news day. When you watch the news-- local or national-- you can’t help but wonder when the crazy will end. Is this the end?
2. You hear a bizarre local news story
“Local man commits murder because Pat Sajak, the host of Wheel of Fortune, said, ‘Do it.’”
3. You see the cheesy local commercials
Some of them have been the exact same since forever and you still know the jingles by heart.
4. So much has changed in your favorite shows, and now you’re lost
Wait, since when did McGee get married and have kids? What happened to Agent Quinn? Are Torres and Bishop going to hook up? Who’s that new lady? I thought they said they were getting rid of Abby, but she’s still here. I see Palmer, but I don’t see Ducky; did they get rid of Ducky? What, is Gibbs next or something?
5. You forgot that there’s literally nothing on during the day
Might as well watch the endless Law and Order: SVU reruns for the millionth time since that’s literally all that’s on.
6. You become engrossed in the made for TV movies on Lifetime
The seemingly perfect husband is actually a psychopathic criminal, and the protagonist is going to stop them, almost getting murdered in the process, before living happily ever after with her handsome new man.
7. You actually get to watch that new show everyone’s raving about
Finally, you’re caught up on the latest trends! Your friends don’t have to explain the references to you anymore.
8. You get to watch your favorite movies again
“I forgot how much I loved Titanic!” *Grabs the cat and proceeds to watch it 20 times.*
9. Finally, it’s time to go back to school
But what if Steven Universe finally ends its hiatus before May?
10. But then you remember that TV’s overrated anyway
The new episodes are sure to be online somewhere. And besides, there’s always Youtube if you really get bored. Anyway, it’s not like you really even miss TV at all.
