All of your favorite comedies are over. "The Office," "Parks and Recreation," "How I Met Your Mother," "30 Rock," "Community"...they’re all gone. Where do you even begin to rebuild after such huge losses? With new comedies, of course. And not ones that you’ll be way behind on either. All of the following have only two seasons or less and are only going to get better with the coming years. Hop on now while you still have the chance, and you’ll be quoting more shows like crazy in no time at all.
1. "You’re the Worst."
If you’re into comedies about self-loathing, narcissistic, yet undeniably charming couples, you’re in luck because "You’re the Worst" is the show for you. Gretchen and Jimmy both don’t do “relationships,” but have decided against their preconceived notions. See how it all plays out in this exceptional FXX show before Season 3 begins this fall. Past episodes are available on FXX.com and Hulu.com.
2. "Grace and Frankie."
When two rivals discover both of their husbands have been having an affair with each other and ultimately decide to leave their wives for each other, things take a interesting turn. You will laugh, you will cry and get overly invested in these characters and their story. If you love a good dramedy, then head over to Netflix and catch up on Season 1 before Season 2 lands on May 6.
3. "Silicon Valley."
Richard, a computer programmer in California’s Silicon Valley, has developed an amazing software that has caught the eye of many big companies. Refusing to sell out, he, along with his friends, try their hardest to get ahead in the ever-changing world of new technology. The cast is great, the jokes are smart, and the twists are constant. Season 3 starts April 24 on HBO, with past episodes available on HBOGo and HBONow.
4. "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt."
Remember "30 Rock?" Remember Erin from "The Office?" Remember what happened when Tina Fey pretty much combined the two together? That’s "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," about a “mole woman” who lived in an underground doomsday shelter for most of her life. When she finally gets out, she makes her way to New York City, in an attempt to start over. Check out the first season on Netflix and then binge
5. "The Last Man on Earth."
Phil Miller is lonely. In the truest form of the word, he believes himself to be the only person on the planet after an unexplained catastrophe has wiped out the entire human race…except him. He spends his days searching the United States for fellow survivors, all while collecting the world’s greatest treasures. Will he ever find anyone? Will he get tired of being alone, and will the loneliness drive him to the point of insanity? I could tell you, but then you wouldn’t have any motivation to watch the show — speaking of which, Season 2 returns March 6 on FOX. Past episodes are available on Hulu.com and FOX.com.
6. "Angie Tribeca."
From creators Steve and Nancy Carell (yeah, Michael Scott and Carol the real estate agent are married in real life) comes "Angie Tribeca," a parody of all those cop dramas on every channel. Angie is a lone wolf who has been assigned a new partner. The two solve the most ridiculous cases in the most serious way imaginable, and it’s the absolute best. Season 1 aired in its entirety on repeat over a 25-hour period in January, and Season 2 has been announced. All episodes are available on TBS.com.
