Have you ever had a day - or days - where the universe seemed to be against you? You woke up expecting the best, and you got the worst - now what do you do? I know, it is very tempting to sit in bed and gloat about what is wrong, but it is better for your mental health to know how to turn around these days and make them better. Do not worry, you got this and I know you can do it!
Remember, you are BOSS and you should own it!
1. Take a second and Relax
Whatever it is that is causing you to stress, just take a second and breathe. You want to focus on having slow and deep breaths for the best results. Whenever you take deep breaths, it sends a message to your brain to calm the body down. Before you can handle a problem, you first must calm your body down and relax. Taking baths, breathing, and even meditation can help with anxiety and stress, so try one of these and see if it helps. Stress is only temporary, and you can handle it!
2. Write down what is bothering you
As you may have heard, it is important to talk about your feelings and what is bothering you. What has helped me overcome stress and anxiety is writing down what I am feeling, and that helps me brainstorm solutions on how to fix it. Plus, you will feel so much better when you face your emotions and pinpoint what is wrong.
3. Clean your room, or listen to music
In general, cleaning something helps the brain relax and have something to focus on. If you are gloating on something bad that happened in your day, take a second and organize your room. It will give your brain something else to think about, and being in a clean environment will alleviate your mood. While you are cleaning, listen to some of your favorite songs and even have a dance session. Music also helps calm the brain and who doesn't love a dance party? Do not be afraid to be goofy, it helps take away the stress and put a smile on your face.
4. Organize and sort out a plan
Once you have determined what exactly is bothering you, create a plan that can solve the problem. Come up with a few possible solutions and try to think about how each one will play out, and choose the best plan for you. Being productive includes being able to problem-solving, and doing things that are beneficial for you. You can do it!
5. Put your plan into action, and keep yourself busy
Keeping your brain occupied on other tasks will help you overcome the bad day. As stated in number four, you can clean your room, go out to eat, hang out with a friend, and anything that makes you happy. Once you have been busy doing other tasks for a while, then come back to the problem. Ask yourself: why was this bothering you, and is your plan still benefiting you? Whenever you walk away from an issue for a bit and go do something productive, you are most likely coming back to the issue with a clearer mind; therefore, you can solve the issue in an efficient way.
