Life has a tendency to get overwhelming sometimes. Whether it’s with school, work, friends, or family, it happens to all of us and it's very easy to get stuck on what's going wrong rather than what's going right.

If you choose to focus on the good things about your day, no matter how small they are, I promise it can turn your day around.

Here are a few of life’s little pleasures that can put a smile on your face even on the toughest days.

1. Waking up before your alarm and realizing you still have a few hours left to sleep.

2. Good hair days.

3. When Chik-Fil-A accidentally gives you a 12-count nugget when you asked for 8.

4. That perfect weather that makes you want to be outside all day.

5. Rainy days that give you the excuse to lay in bed all day.

6. When your eyebrows are on fleek.

7. When you get that perfect highlight it could blind someone.

8. The amount of alcohol left at your house after you host a party.

9. Random compliments/smiles from strangers.

10. A good grade on a test that you didn’t think you did so hot on.

11. A text from a friend you haven’t talked to in a while.

12. The cool side of the pillow.

13. When your sweet tea is perfectly sweet.

14. Laughing so hard you cry or almost pee.

15. Finally laying in bed after a long day.

16. Even better, taking your bra off after a long day (so relieving).

17. The feeling after a really good workout.

18. Fridays!

19. Making a crowd of people laugh.

20. A canceled class.

21. When your favorite song comes on the radio.

22. Waking up with an extra flat stomach.

23. Having something to look forward to.

24. Accomplishing everything on your to-do list.

25. A fresh manicure.

26. McDonald’s Sprite (it’s bubblier and sweeter than any other Sprite, I swear on it).

27. That mini roller coaster feeling when you drive over a big bump.

28. When a little kid picks you to be their new friend.

29. Your dog running up to you when you walk through the door.

30. Finding money you didn’t know you had in your pocket.

31. The reaction of someone when you get them a gift they love.

32. Waking up to the smell of bacon.

33. When your eyelashes look longer than normal.

34. Finding a quizlet with your entire quiz or test on it.

35. That huge over-exaggerated stretch after first waking up.

36. Driving with the windows down.

So during times when everything seems to be going wrong, remember there are good things in every day, sometimes you just have to look a little harder!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
