Have you ever wanted something so badly that you pushed others out of the way to get it? It didn't matter who was in the way, all you knew is you were going to get exactly what you wanted. Sound selfish, right? I bet we can all think of a time when we should've put our hand out for someone else to grab, but instead we watched from the sideline.
The first thing that comes to mind is a Lunchable: The pizza one that had a packet of sauce, a mixture of cheese and a red stick used to spread the sauce.Grocery shopping each week involved the game, Run, get a Lunchable, and sneak it in the cart before Mom notices. Without fail, I would get caught right before the cashier would scan the barcode and then I would have to do the walk of shame back to the lunch meat section and put it back where I found it. My mom was more of a "Peanut butter and jelly" type...a good balance between protein and sugar.
I wanted a Lunchable so badly that I didn't care if everyone at my lunch table had to suffer while scarfing down a turkey and mustard sandwich.
Isn't it crazy how selfish we can become? We put our needs in front of those who would drop everything to help us out.
It makes you think about God and how he is always faithful even when we mix up the voice in our head and his own voice. We know what we want him to do for us, but we aren't fully trusting his plan. It's like saying "God, I went to church last week and even though the whole time I was thinking about how crappy my life was, I still think you should answer my prayers". Who said it was a "give and take" game? I mean, he gave us air to breathe!
He is calling us to follow a plan and constantly reminding us that his plan is better than anything we could ever imagine. He gives us reasons to trust that everything is going to work out as long as we hold his hand without a glimpse of letting go. The hardest part is that there is no small glimpse of what we can expect, or a timeline reminding us that in two months something really big is coming your way. And it isn't until something changes and we run back to him just to hold his hand.
Change comes when you've already settled in.
Your feet kicked up with a glass in hand. In most cases, it's God's way of reminding us to trust in him because something really big is coming your way. One common misconception (that I know all too well) is that God puts speed bumps in your way. But only good things come from him and it's our own human nature that says, "I really want to do this even though I know it's not part of your plan. But I promise to spend extra time tomorrow worshiping you." And guess what? We always come back to God sitting in the driver's seat waiting for your return.
He's so faithful. Even when we leave him behind to check something out, he is sitting there saying "Okay, ready for our next stop?"
So where are you on God's path? Has he just said "Pack up and get ready for a wild ride." or are you settling in after God is saying recover from this wild ride we just went through?
