16 Reasons Every Girl Needs A Guy Best Friend

Don't get me wrong, I love my girlfriends. But what would life be like without the idealistic male best friend? Sure, some may say that sharing a strict "friends-only" relationship with a member of the opposite sex is somewhere near impossible, but I beg to differ.

To be frank, I really do promote those girls that fall in love with their best friend- good for you! I am just here supporting the female population that can maintain that healthy guy-girl bond where you treasure your best friend as if he was your older brother. Needless to say, it's a rare relationship to uphold.

Besides those cases of cinematic romance, men still have the chance to maintain the "best friend" status. Of course we have all heard the familiar, "men and women can't just be friends". Since the beginning of time movies and stories have forced us to believe that the girl will always fall for that "guy best friend". I'll admit, it's feasible. But on the other hand, the idea is a little too cliché for my taste. Is it possible for a female to succumb to a simple (non-romantic) companionship with a male? Despite the historical anecdotes and love stories that we are exposed to on an everyday basis, guys can make the perfect best friends- and here is why:

1. They bring absolutely NO drama into your everyday life.

2. They will tell you how the outfit (actually) looks.

3. They are way more protective then your girlfriends- a.k.a your personal bodyguard 24/7.

4. They'll introduce you to their guy friends. (A matchmaker and the perfect wingmen, what could be better?!)

5. You'll never feel like you need a boyfriend.

6. They'll be your "male-translator" when you need to uncover a confusing text.

7. You will never fight over liking the same person. (That's right- no need for "dibs").

8. They are very good listeners.

9. They'll always encourage your dumb ideas and you can be as weird as you want. (And better yet, they will fuel the dumb ideas).

10.They always have pockets.

11. If you're hungry, they're hungry.

12. You will never have to drive. Not sure if this is some part of their masculinity complex, but hey you'll save gas money!

13. They will never offer fake sympathy, especially after a bad break-up.

14. They will never borrow your stuff.

15. They will always be your back-up date (perfect for this hayride season at MSU).

16. They are always there to cheer you up and joke around when you're having a rough day.

It's the best of both worlds to have a guy as your best friend. So if you're lacking a manly pal, I definitely recommend you find one.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
