Are Trump Supporters Racists?

I've read a few responses online about why some people have voted fro Trump. (https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/opinions/t... )

The Washington Post also published an article from an interesting perspective: a Muslim woman who was a lifelong liberal. (read it here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/global-opinion...). One quote in particular struck out: "I — a 51-year-old, a Muslim, an immigrant woman “of color” — am one of those silent voters for Donald Trump. And I’m not a “bigot,” “racist,” “chauvinist” or “white supremacist,” as Trump voters are being called."

I've seen that in many places. Trump voters are saying that just because they voted for Trump does not make them racist or sexist. Fine, you don't want to call yourselves that because society as a whole knows that racism and sexism are harmful. However, you voluntarily voted for a candidate that espouses those beliefs. That means that you believe that whatever reason you voted for him on (he's an outsider, he'll "drain the swamp", end political correctness etc.) is more important than equality in this nation. You think that ending political correctness is more important than everyone being treated with equal respect in the US.

This is a classic case of: "if you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor." -Desmond Tu. To be frank, if you voted for Trump you just don't care enough about sexism and racism. The majority of people who voted for Trump are uneducated white men, who have never been victims of sexism and racism, so they voted for Trump because they just don't care about equal rights.

In the Washington Post article, the woman also states that she kept her Presidential choice a secret. That's horrible. You should be willing to openly endorse your Presidential choice without feeling shame or guilt. If you do feel said shame and guilt, its because you are voting for a candidate that is a shameful mar on the US. The beliefs he touts are shameful and horrendous and looked down by those carrying basic morals, and those voting for him are either passive to his horrible beliefs or agree with him.

Ending political correctness has somehow come across as hate crimes against minorities. Political correctness has become "it is okay to be racist now, because Trump has been and he is now President." A Trump win has meant that people can now openly state their hateful closeted beliefs about racism, sexism, and gay rights. Political correctness has come around because we don't want to offend people. Ending political correctness does not mean you can draw swatiskas and write go back to Africa/Asia/Mexico/any country that isn't the US.

Trump's win isn't about him. It's about what has happened because of his movement and what he stands for since his win. Our progress as a country has been reversed since his win.

If you agree that Clinton should be President, if you want to put a stop to these hate crimes, if you agree that racism and sexism is bad, and if you are a person with morals please sign this petition to influence the electoral college to vote for Clinton officially: https://www.change.org/p/electoral-college-elector...

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
