In a time where Trump has been battling the recent events regarding his handling of the Parkland High School shooting, the Russia Investigation, his communications director resigning, the time for Trump to get some favorable momentum is now. However, recent commentary regarding a military parade being great for the country’s spirit isn’t the favorable press he should want.
Here’s a first look…
Trump’s proposal for a military parade, according to Andrew Bates, “would be the biggest waste of money” to satisfy the fragile ego of the president. Of course, Trump’s ego is never fragile. After all, what president wants to make nice with somebody who’s known for military parades, while Trump basically says “Hold my Diet Coke” to Kim Jong-Un?
The price tag for the parade is projected to be, not surprisingly, high. But, to be fair, we have held a parade for military victory was the summer of 1991 when soldiers got back from fighting in the brief Persian Gulf War. That parade cost us a mere $12 million dollars. That is McDonald’s money for Trump compared to what this will cost. This one is projected to be costing a projected $30 million. How the money will be obtained from this parade will come from SNAP, a low-income food program. That money could feed about 20,000 people. Incidentally, those 20,000 people could be more people being gone from this current administration.
As usual, America is not in favor of such a parade, and Trump likely will not listen to advice that the American people have on this parade. 61 percent of the country is in disagreement with the idea of a military parade. The primary reason, as he has been on the record saying, is that he is “inspired” by the Bastille Parade France has annually. Like his beef with Kim-Jong Un, this will only render this another competition. Remember his Tweet saying that “his button is bigger than Kim Jong-un’s?” He’s going to Tweet that his toy soldiers are bigger than France’s.
All just for the satisfaction of his “fragile ego.”
