Trump At The G20 Summit: An International Embarrassment

Stumbling through international diplomacy swinging anti-globalist rhetoric, Trump has successfully diminished the United States' standing as a world power.

Trump At The G20 Summit: An International Embarrassment

The G20 summit represents the most powerful and influential countries in the world coming together to insure financial growth and stability for it's members and proper cooperation in what is in reality the only thing besides nuclear bombs keeping us from waging war on each other. But this year Donald Trump attended, and like a drunken uncle at at Thanksgiving party, it was quite the show.

First, in a trip to Poland, he made a frighteningly fascist like speech that blatantly incorporated white nationalistic speech including praising solely western cultural establishments, which are anything but solely western, and raging against his supposed barbarians to the south and east who threaten western society. Hail Caesar. Not to mention the fact that not too different from the former communist party of Poland, Trump bused in supporters to make it appear as if a country who has experience with a demagogue like himself is 100% behind him. Stalin would be proud.

Then came the actual G20 summit. Everyone eagerly awaited the meeting between Putin and the United States, and boy was there one. Instead of the original 30 minutes that was set aside, the two men spent 2 hours in their meeting. A Syrian ceasefire was agreed on, though the details of the agreement are still not revealed and according to Russian Foreign Minister Mr. Lavrov, Trump accepted Putin's claim that he was not behind the election interference. And as if this nightmare couldn't get worse, apparently they agreed on a joint Russian-US cyber warfare investigation. Trump has not only single handily trashed the entire intelligence community, but he has now invented one of America's greatest Geo-political foes into an investigation that names them as the perpetrator! This is extremely frightening, and Trump is being played masterful by a man who's only goal is to sow distrust in the institutions of this country by creating as much chaos as possible. And of course they both missed the G20 meeting on climate change, just to add insult to injury. And one more gift from Putin– while in a joint press conference, Putin pointed at journalist and said to Trump, "Are these the one's hurting you?"

But Trumps stumbling through the delicate world of Geo-politics didn't stop there, because Ivanka Trump sat in for him at a meeting of the G20 leaders. She is not an elected official, nor is he a staffer. "I try to stay out of politics." Nepotism is the word folks, nepotism, nepotism, nepotism. Imagine if Chelsea Clinton did the same for her mother; impeachment proceedings would begin the minute Air Force One landed. This is not right, and this is not normal. The United States is a Monarchy posing as a faux-Democracy. And King Midas, eh Trump, is raining in utter turmoil and confusion as the federal government is under staffed and unable to function correctly. Trump even had the gall to bring up John Podesta through Twitter saying "Everyone here is talking about why John Podesta refused to give the DNC server to the FBI and the CIA. Disgraceful!" This is the actions of an unhinged man, a man who is unfit to serve as Commander in Chief.

And perhaps worst of all is the rest of the G20 essentially moving swiftly past the US and kicking them to the curb in regards to climate change, with Merkel calling our policy on it regrettable. The world is moving past us, the allegory to the Roman Empire is becoming frighteningly accurate. Especially when you realize that it was really Rome's own undoing from the inside of it's borders, unlike Trump's belief that the enemy is on the outside. The Visigoths are in the White House.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
