Every girl has a staple item of clothing or accessory that they always wear. For me, it's shoes. Every pair of shoes I see I ABSOLUTELY NEED. I always feel as though shoes make or break an outfit, on guys and girls, so this is most likely where my constant need for a new pair of shoes stems from. It is even said that shoes are the first thing your mind subconsciously notices about a person.
I have a connection to Carrie Bradshaw when it comes to shoes. After watching Sex and the City over the summer I realized our shoe obsession is very similar. Not only do we both love shoes, but we both love expensive shoes. Carrie once said, "I have this little substance abuse problem...expensive footwear," and I could not relate more to this statement. It seems like the more expensive the shoe, the more I want it. Mind you, I am a broke college student so expensive shoes don't exactly fit into my budget. I spend so much of my time idolizing different celebrities and what they wear and its hard to remember that we don't exactly have the same budget.
Carrie's favorite shoes are Manolo Blahniks. Once while being robbed in the NYC streets she even exclaimed, "Please sir, you can take my Fendi baguette, you can take my ring and watch, but please don't take my Manolo Blahniks." While my go-to shoes are Steve Madden, I'd say that I'd probably put up a fight about any pair of shoes someone tried to take. Steve Madden's are the perfect shoe, though. They're always up to date with the latest footwear trends an the shoes are appropriately priced and of good quality. I can't tell you how many times I've gone to the store or showed up to my house leaving or expecting multiple pairs of shoes from my good friend Steve.
Carrie's knowledge is also as extensive as mine. She states, "Men, I may not know, but shoes I know". Carrie is so right. Men, I guess boys for me, since no one I've encountered can be considered a man, are way too hard to read. They like to play dumb games, lead you on, let you think they're into you and then they'll call it off a day later, and treat you terribly. Shoes, on the other hand, can do no harm, other than to your bank account maybe. Shoes will always be there for you and will always help to complete your outfit. After all, shoes are make it or break it.
Whether you go for heels or flats or sneakers or stilettos, make sure you're shoes are always killin' the game. People don't realize how much of an impact your shoes make on your overall appearance, so pay attention. This is something I know Carrie would advocate for. And just like Carrie, I'd have to say, "I like my money where I can see it...hanging in my closet."
