OK, I guess it’s time for me to confess. There’s probably something I should tell you. Something I should announce, I mean say, I mean -- wait, was this planned on my list? Oops, the truth came out. People, I’m a list-maker! Anyone want to join me in “list-makers anonymous?"
There’s nothing wrong with making lists. Yes, that’s what I keep telling myself. I really like making lists. OK, now that makes me sound nuts! However, if you think about it, lists keep you organized. They know what you’re thinking at all times (hello, you wrote it!). You can’t forget if you write it down. Wait, that means if you make a list and know something is there and don’t do it, you’re lazy? Yep! I always feel bound to my list. Ugh, the irritating part about having a type A personality.
I’m the first one to admit to making lists; whether they’re on sticky notes, lined paper or a napkin, I make them all the time. I make lists for the grocery store when my mom sends me in. I make lists at work for what I need to get done or talk to the boss about. I make lists about my weekly goals. I make lists about purchases I want to make. Of course I need a 100-count eye shadow palette that releases at noon! I make lists of homework and class assignments to get done. I need to make lists about my lists. Oh gosh, does that mean I have a problem? Yep, I do, and it’s OK. Technically, I’m writing a list right now, am I not? I’m telling you a list of things I make lists of!
Honestly, there is no way I would be able to function without lists. I use them to keep myself on track for working out, eating right and accomplishing my goals. I find it of the utmost importance; to keep myself sane I write myself a list. If I don’t, I usually end up leaving homework at home, missing an 8 a.m. doctor’s appointment or completely forgetting to call my mom’s great aunt for her 85th
I mean, without lists, how would I survive? Yes, it may sound silly to you, but lists are my BFFs! They keep me organized and help lower my stress level (somewhat). There is something so satisfying to me about checking things off my list -- it means I’ve accomplished a lot of tasks. Whether it’s something as small as getting everything at the grocery store or as big as completing a prep test course, lists are here to save the day!
