Q&A: Ooh Whoops — 10 Truths Of Being A Troublesome Triplet
Ella Hou

Ever since I was young, being a triplet has raised some questions in almost every person who somehow figures out that I am one. I was once even accused of lying because my siblings and I aren't the same gender. Ahem — you all know that there's something called fraternal triplets, right? I decided to ask the Alpharetta team at Odyssey if they had questions about being a triplet and two lovely people came up with some questions for me. I have to warn you all that we might shatter your vision of triplets...

So without further ado, let the questioning begin!

1. Do you ever look at each other and think, yep, I'm the good looking one?

Maybe the other two have, but I've never, actually. I suppose it would be up to those around us to determine who's the most good looking one.

2. Spill the tea — have you ever impersonated each other?

Nope. Although it would have been fun to trick people by impersonating the other, my sister and I have never done so for the sole fact that we look nothing alike. And my brother looks even less alike than us.

3. Most frustrating moments of being a triplet?

People can't help but compare us together, commenting about how we look so different or how one person is more attractive than the others. They're also super surprised that our interests are completely different from one another. Just because we're triplets doesn't mean we're going to look the same or that we fancy the same things — really.

4. Best things about being a triplet?

Because I was quite the shy one when I was younger, it was always a relief that I had two other siblings who would always go to the same school as me and be with me when I was away from home. But now? I'd have to think long and hard for something good.

5. Do you think triplet siblings have a closer relationship than other siblings?

I know one trio who is literally inseparable, but this is not the case with us, so I think the "closer relationship" idea is a hit or miss with triplets.

6. Do you know any other triplets/twins?

Yes, yes I do. Two sets of triplets and three sets of twins. And I happen to be friends with at least one from each set.

7. Family reaction to your triplet birth?

When my mother told everyone, some were either surprised or didn't believe her at all. It was an interesting mix of reactions — or so I've heard.

8. Do you all have any nicknames around school?

Quite frankly, we're very secretive about being triplets so not many people know. Thus, no, we don't have nicknames. Many people know me by "Ethan's sister," though, if that counts. It's because my brother is a social butterfly and not many people know of my existence. I don't like being known.

9. What are your clubs/activities/sports like? Do you all do similar things or have a wide variety of interests?

Honestly, I think the only thing that we all have in common is our interest in music. We're all in an orchestra, but other than that, we are complete opposites. While my brother leans towards the biology and environmental science category, my sister loves history and languages. I'm your art and social sciences person.

10. (Also, can we get the third triplet on Odyssey too?)

Unfortunately, no. My sister may be retiring, actually, but I'll still be here.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
