Dear Mommy,

Happy Birthday. I know this is a couple days late, but I want you to know that you truly deserve the world. You fought for me in my lowest moments and for that I am forever thankful. I don't want this to be just any other "letter to my mom" posts, but I want you to feel special and loved and appreciated more than ever.

1. Thank you for making me laugh for as long as I can remember.

Anytime we are together, I can guarantee there will be some laughter. & not just soft giggles- but deep belly laughs because once we both start laughing, it is contagious. From the mumbling in the grocery store when you turn your head away from me, to some things I cannot say because we would both be embarrassed, we are always cracking up about something.

2. Thank you for genuinely being my BIGGEST fan.

Over the years of soccer, basketball, cross country, dance, cheerleading, track, volleyball, and especially softball, I can't even count on two hands how many times you have missed a game or competition or race of mine. We traveled all over the place together for years and years- getting to fields and courts at 6 am and leaving at 11 pm and I am so deeply thankful I have a fan in you.

3. Thank you for always providing for me, no matter the cost or cause.

You and Dad love spoiling your girls, that's no doubt. But beyond that, you have provided physically, emotionally, and spiritually for me more than I could ever comprehend. I would definitely not be where I am today if it were not for the way you have provided for me in every area in life. I would not be attending the greatest University in the world, or be loving Jesus like I do if it weren't for your sacrifice.

4. Thank you for fighting for my life, even if you didn't realize you were doing so.

I struggled through one of the darkest times of my life in high school, and you were so beyond gentle and loving through it all. Between offering to take me to get ice cream, or letting me fall asleep on the couch with you when I couldn't sleep, I am truly eternally grateful for the way you fought for me and stood by my side, and still do.

& last but definitely not least.

5. Thank you for loving Jesus.

If it weren't for you loving Jesus as much as you do, our family would not be the same. You go to war in prayer for us every single day, and you push us to believe in Jesus even more than we believe in each other.

I would not have been to Thailand, Ore City, Marshall, or all of those places across the world if it were not for you setting the tone of the importance of Jesus in life. You are a woman of faith, and your reward in Heaven is way bigger than I think you realize sometimes.

You are my queen. My hero. My sweet mommy. My travel buddy. My pedicure pal. My favorite dinner date. My best friend. My walking angel.

I love you, mommy. I'm so thankful I get to spend eternity knowing you.

-Your Colbie Jo

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
