A Tribute To Football Season

Well, it's that time of year again: back to school, your everyday routine, and hard work. No more waking up late or spending countless hours in the sun having a good time. However, there is a silver lining between all of those negatives to summer ending, and that is football season.

The NFL and College Football season is approaching, and the fanbase is growing every year. Almost everybody watches football now and has a team to rep their colors. Whether it be college football or the NFL, almost everyone in the country can look forward to their Saturday’s and Sunday’s to be packed with football for the next five months. The football season brightens up the fall, from college and NFL games on Thursday to Monday nights; there is always a game to look forward too. The tailgating, the pride — there is just an atmosphere about football season that no other major sport can emulate. The enjoyment as the week begins and you wait for Saturday or Sunday to come so you can go tailgate, have fun, and watch your favorite team play without a care in the world is truly unexplainable.

Football creates bonds, whether it be between players and coaches or two brothers who attend every single home game for their favorite team. Football can also bring a community together. Houston, after the terrible events of Hurricane Harvey, needs a positive to fall back on, and it has already been made clear to the Houston Texans that an NFL franchise has dedicated the season to the people of Houston. This season for Houston will be special, and the people of Houston know their beloved Texans have their back. From the east coast to the west coast, there are millions of crazed fans just waiting for football season to start so they can manage their own fantasy football team or throw the biggest tailgate. If you are a serious football fan, the start of football season is always the best because there are endless possibilities for how your favorite team is going to do; but, that could totally change by Week 5 or Week 6 of the season, because if your favorite team is struggling, some may wish for football season to just end. (Talk to any New York Jets Fan). Other than that, football season is amazing.

College football has become huge, and there are no better feelings than being able to rock your colors and say, “yes this is my school.” That is the one difference between college and the NFL; you really don’t have any say in your favorite NFL team because you are not associated with them in any way other than being a fan. For college, however, you attend the school, you pay to go to the school, and you are in classes with some of the players, so there is more pride in college football because the team represents the university you attend.

So, with the start of school and the end of summer, you should be happy, because the best season of all is right around the corner — football season. Get ready for crazy games, wild finishes, and some unexpected teams to make an unexpected run, because that is the beauty of the game.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
