Welcome to the new year, everyone! Hopefully, you will remember to date your papers correctly. I know I won't. I'm going to be constantly drawing a number eight over my seven.

That's beside the point. There are some things I hope we can remember other than writing the correct year. It's 2018. This decade is almost over. I think we can use the last few years of the decade to try to better ourselves as a society.

"But we're fine the way we are!" you might say. How about I list out twenty things I think we need to stop doing this year, or at least by 2020?

1. Judging someone's worth as a human being based on their weight.

2. Using LGBTQ labels as insults.

3. Better yet, can we accept the LGBTQ community anytime soon?

4. Saying that transgenders are "sick in the head" or "going through a phase."

5. Making fun of people who dress differently or have a different sense of style (ex: goths).

6. Racism! Seriously, why are we still racist?!

7. Using violence as a way to protest.

8. Politics being the reason you break off a relationship with someone.

9. Not respecting another person's opinion just because you don't agree with it.

10. Using the "R" word as an insult.

11. Making rape jokes.

12. Sexism, even if it's just small jokes about "making a sandwich" because you're not cute for making that joke. You're annoying.

13. Putting celebrities on a pedestal and judging them harshly when they make the smallest mistake.

14. Telling young adults that they have to go to college to succeed in life. College isn't for everyone!

15. Honestly let's just not judge people in general for what they're doing in their life because it's not your problem and the only thing you're doing is making them feel like crap when they're just trying to put bread on the table.

16. Saying that pit bulls are dangerous.

17. Speaking of, can we stop dog fights, too?

18. Judging someone for their religious beliefs.

19. Being incredibly rude to customer service employees when they're doing the best they can to please you.

20. Being mean in general. Can we be nice?? You know, world peace??

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
