As I'm writing this, I'm sitting in the Denver International Airport waiting to board a flight that will take me to Dallas and then Washington D.C. And I can't seem to contain my excitement, which happens to be the reason I'm writing this particular article. This also happens to be my third trip in the last two weeks. Since I finished school in May, I've been all across the country (while working a full-time job, but I digress). I'm quite physically exhausted and I'm relying on a combination of ibuprofen and Diet Coke to get me through. And to think, I thought finals were taxing. But this is a different kind of tired. Because while I really want one good night's sleep, I also can’t believe my extraordinary luck. How many people get the opportunity to travel and explore new places? My traveling heart is sure counting my blessings tonight.
While I’m on the subject of travel, I’ve always had this strange obsession with the airport. A lot of people get stressed by the crowds and the possibility of missing their flight. But this has never been the case for me. I’ve always thought of the airport as a place of possibilities. From where else can the whole world be accessed in such a short time? Whenever I go to the airport, I am always extremely excited by the trip I’m about to embark on or the journey home. There’s something exhilarating about having the whole world at your fingertips, isn’t there?
So I suppose today, I am not only thanking my lucky stars but also encouraging everyone to travel. Trips, no matter how close to home, never fail to expand horizons. Not to mention, they allow you to see even more of God’s beautiful creation. Win-win, am I right?
So, I urge you to listen to your traveling heart and explore this beautiful place we call Earth.
