Wiki

St. Augustine is a great town to stop in while traveling through Florida. Some people spend their entire week there staying in historic inns, beautiful hotels or at the beach camp sites. But I myself pass through St. Augustine on my way to a vacation in southern Florida. If your trip is anything like mine then no worries because you can hit St. Augustine's best spots in just one day. Read below for a list of the best spots to visit during your short stay.

1. Historic landmarks

Fort Castillo de San Marcos, known for its beautiful view and historic value is number two on oldest forts in the United States. Admission is $10 per adults while children 15 and under are free. Along with the fort, there are many cemeteries. These cemeteries are worth touring during the day on your own time or at night with a ghost tour guide.

2. Lunch

Al's pizza or Burrito Works Taco Shop. That's it. No other choices because you have to go there. Some of the best food I have ever had. Al's serves pizza, salads, wraps, and plenty of filling appetizers such as deep fried ravioli. Burrito Works Taco Shop serves nachos, tacos, bowls, burritos and more. The ingredients are fresh and the shop is friendly.

3. Historic District

The town is filled with history. Many stores rest in old buildings that once housed people or are old school houses. The oldest school house in the US rests in the center of this historic area. It is fun to walk around this area and peek into the various shops. Many restaurants such as Al's are tucked away in this area.

4. Flagler College

If the doors are open take a stop by Flagler and see for yourself what a hotel used to be in St. Augustine. This college's main entrance was once a hotel and still holds its original bones. The history behind this school is very interesting and the campus is a beautiful walk.

5. Wine and Dine

Raintree Restaurant is a nice restaurant to get fancy and still have a good time. I'm not sure about you but I'm not the most proper person. This place has the nice menu and beautiful scenery but there's no pressure to use the right fork for the right meal. They serve soups, salads, seafood, Italian pasta, lamb, and steak along with many other beautiful courses. Their dessert bar ranges from pies to crepes and my favorite, chocolate mousse. If you feel like dressing up and spending a little extra, this is the place to go!

Have fun, and enjoy your stay!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
