Towson University students took to social media this weekend to discuss their outrage about the anti-Semitic comments written on a chalkboard in the center of campus.
"Seeing this last night was the most disturbing thing I've ever experienced," said Rebecca Altschul on a Towson University Facebook page Sunday evening. "If you know who did this, report it. If you see something, say something."
The writings included sayings such as "fascism, just do it" and "Hitler was right." The images can be seen below.
"The university (including TUPD) is conducting an investigation," said Kurt Anderson, Towson University Student Government president on a Facebook post Sunday evening. "It's time we as students of TU take a stand against hate speech and fight to end oppression in every form it appears."
In 2013 Towson University was surrounded by a similar controversy when a then student created a group called the White Student Union. The WSU planned to begin nighttime patrols of Towson University to fend off "black predators" according to an article by the Huffington Post.
Towson University students had a similar reaction, taking to social media and campus in order to express their anger with the student group. The president of the group believed that white nationalists should be able to succeed from the union if they do not want to be a part of this "multicultural nation," also according to an article by the Huffington Post. The WSU was never officially affiliated with Towson University.
No official word yet on what actions Towson University is taking on the matter.
