I've lived in the city of Avon, Ohio since I was one year old. I know it's weird to say I've lived here for almost my entire life minus one year because my first year of living was spent in an apartment in Westlake when it was just me, my parents, and a cat that we would eventually have to put down. We lived in this one house for seven years until we moved into the one I currently live in.
In the development next door.
I know that's probably odd, but I was only in second grade.
The church that I'm a part of, St. Mary's of the Immaculate Conception, is located there and I've spent seven years going there for PSR and played CYO basketball and volleyball.
I've played little league here, and basketball on the middle school team. I did soccer like a majority of the kids who are my age did when we were in preschool. I was in the high school marching band all four years of high school.
There have been numerous people that have come and gone in my life, and while I know that I will meet new people in my life while in college these people that I met in Avon, whether they were neighbors, teachers, coworkers, or friends, will all have an impact on the person that I am.
There are also places that just make this town feel more...homey to me. Whether it be the local library, the Dairy Mart, or Dairy Treat, there are always places in a town that just make it feel like that is the reason your town is special.
Also, how can I not forget the coveted Duck Tape Festival? Just one whole weekend during Father's Day weekend where the town can get together and enjoy a little fair without having to go out of town. I know I've missed the festival a couple of times because of vacations, but I loved the Duck Tape Festival. However, the only thing I didn't like was marching in the parade with marching band because oh my god that was very hot.
But it makes for stories that I will be excited to tell people that I meet in my life.
I'll miss you, city of Avon, Ohio. Thank you for making me who I am and I'll be back for breaks in the future.
Go Eagles!
