I'm A Post-Grad Student Who Is Totally Lost

"What am I even doing?"

I graduated college in May, 2016. My idea when I graduated was that I would be working in the field that I got a degree in (which I do) and moving out on my own. I thought I'd be with a boyfriend and exploring the world. I thought I would have many friends from school who keep in touch and making a great impact on society.

BOY WAS I WRONG.

Working in the television world is not what I thought it would be. I get headaches from watching monitors all day not to mention I feel isolated from not working with many people. It can get extremely boring. The hours are LONG and the shifts are late. I find myself working until midnight starting at 3:45 PM.

Let's talk about moving out. Yeah, it is not as easy as I thought. This requires a full-time job which no one gives out these days. Not to mention things are expensive: car payments, taxes, medical expenses, water bill, you name it.

The dating world is tricky these days. Dating apps seem to be the new way of meeting someone. I am all for it but not when I am harassed with 100 messages and inappropriate pictures. Now it is a hook-up game for many guys and many girls. Not for me though, in which I prefer to find someone to spend the rest of my life with.

Trying to explore the world? I see people hopping on planes visiting Thailand and Greece. If they can tell me how they get that money I'd love to know.

Keeping in touch with friends is hard. People move on, get busy, ghost you, and that's just what I have to accept. I am lucky I have two friends at least.

Making a remarkable and positive impact on the world is tough when you feel stuck and lost. There are so many things I want to do and I do not know how.

So What Can I Do That's Right?

I look for jobs and things I may be interested in. It is scary but I rather experience more things before I hop into another masters program.

I look into pricing for apartments and other things in my budget. Also the hard part. PEven more nerve-wracking that budgeting is picking a place to move.

I put my big girl pants on and say yes to a guy when he asks me out. But of course I am cautious to who I say yes to.

I try and budget my money and take small trips to places I enjoy like Hershey Park and West Palm Beach.

I do my best to reach out to friends who will take the time to hang out with me. Also I try and make new friends who will stick with me in the long run.

I try and be as eco-friendly to the environment as I possibly can. Reduce, reuse, and recycle. I try and volunteer as well to help others.

In the end, I think I will always be lost. But all I know is that I am trying my best and hopefully this will lead me on the right path.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
