Top Ten Things To Do This Fall

There is no denying that fall has finally arrived in Kennesaw. Most people spend their weekends not knowing what to do, so I thought I might help you out with that. Here are the top ten things that you should be doing this fall.

1. Go apple picking.

With living in suburbia we aren’t too far from North Georgia where they have some of the best apple farms and the cutest little towns. You can do so many things and not spend too much money. With everything that there is to do, you can spend an entire day laughing, taking pictures, and just enjoying the scenery.

2. Go to a corn maze.

With more than a few in the area, you can have your choice of where you want to go. You can even add in the word haunted and get so many more options. They offer a fun time to have a night for a price that won’t break the bank.

3. Go to a pumpkin patch.

You can choose whether or not you really want to buy a pumpkin but you can always take pictures! Think of all of the Instagram-worthy pictures and just the fun you can have with your friends. And if you do buy pumpkins, think of all of the fun you can have carving them and decorating the house for fall.

4. Go on a ghost tour.

With living in a historic area and around some Civil War battlefields what more could you ask for? There is so much history in our backyard that we don’t even know about.

5. Go to the fair.

Now we are no strangers to fairs. There are so many different ones around the state of Georgia that it doesn’t matter that you may have missed the one that was here last month. Every city and even some schools offer state of the art fairs full of rides, greasy foods, and fun times.

6. Go hiking.

Talk about a great time to see the state. The leaves are changing colors and the air is crisp making it a wonderful time to get out and get active. You won’t sweat your behind off so all of your pictures will look cute, and you don’t have to pay anything- most of the time- to do this.

7. Go to a concert.

Now don’t go thinking I am talking about dropping serious money on a couple of tickets, I am talking about some random group you have never heard of. You will get to meet some interesting people and hear some great music, sometimes just make sure you do some research first. Make sure you take a couple of friends with you to enjoy the new music or to laugh at the people on the front row who have had maybe a few too many.

8. Go to a haunted house.

Something we all love to do, get the crap scared out of us. Go with one person or go with a group, it is always fun to see the person next to you almost pee their pants they get so scared. You can always go to the big ones, but that also comes with big bucks being spent, so why not try some of the smaller ones? They will still scare you beyond belief without scaring your wallet.

9. Go to a fall festival.

Almost every city or school has one. You can do so many things at these, whether you buy cute fall things, eat good food, or play fun games, there is literally something for everybody of every age. They are family friendly meaning you can take your nanny kids, little brothers/sisters, and it is a great place for you and your mom to have a cup of coffee while people watching.

10. Just be adventurous. Do something you have never done before.

Out of anything you could do this year, do something you have never done before. Life is too short to spend your time doing the same thing every single weekend. Being adventurous doesn’t have to mean going somewhere far away or doing something expensive. There are plenty of things to do in your backyard, you just have to look for them.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
