Two years ago today, I was visiting my family for over a month in Portugal, in a town right outside of Lisbon. During my time there, I went across the entire country, from north to south and from east to west. Of all the places I went to, here are eight places that I highly recommend if you were to visit this amazing country.
1. Aveiro
Christina Billie
This amazing city is known as the "Venice of Portugal." It has canals throughout the city, and it's absolutely beautiful.
2. Fatima
Whether you're Christian or not, Fatima is one of the best cities to visit. The churches are beautiful as well as the nature all around the city.
3. Praia da Marinha
Christina Billie
This beach is the most beautiful beach I've ever been to. Located at the south end of the country, Praia da Marinha has water as clear as a swimming pool and very tiny waves. If you get the chance to travel to the Algarve region, go to this amazing beach. It's breath-taking!
4. Ponte de Luis I - Porto
Christina Billie
This bridge connects both sides of Porto together, and you can walk across, take a train across or drive across as well! Whichever way you choose to get to the other side, you'll be sure to get some amazing views.
5. Ponte 25 de Abril - Lisbon
Christina Billie
This bridge in Lisbon really reminds me of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Fransisco. It's an amazing site to see and a great photo-op, especially if you want to get some "Full House" vibes.
6. Serra da Estrela
Christina Billie
The Serra da Estrela is the tallest peak in Portugal in the northern part of the country. It's beautiful to look out into all the surrounding land, and the shop at the top of the mountain has really good cheese and bread!
7. Livraria Chardron - Porto
Christina Billie
This library in Porto is what the library in the Harry Potter series is based off of, so if you're a Harry Potter fan, you'll really enjoy this place.
8. Cristo Rei - Lisbon
Christina Billie
This place is definitely one for people that are Christian, but if you aren't, it's still a really cool sight to see. If you are familiar with the statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil that looks like this, these two statues are facing each other!
