It's no secret, "The Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" are addicting reality shows that portray both love and excessive drama. Every year my mom refuses to watch it as host, Chris Harrison, states, "this is the most dramatic season yet." However, she is always drawn in somehow.
Every Monday, starting the first week of January, I find myself in front of the TV, with a bowl of ice cream, tuned into "The Bachelor." Come end of May, I find myself in the same position only this time to watch the failed love story of a young woman from the previous "Bachelor" season.
As August nears, my mom and I spend our Mondays and Tuesdays eager to watch ABC's newer version of "The Bachelor," titled, "Bachelor In Paradise," where previous contestants have second (or third) chances of finding love in Playa Escondido, Mexico. While I am overwhelmed with the amount of drama, I continuously find myself intrigued. Though there are plenty of sincere contestants like Danielle Maltby, a neonatal nurse, to Kristina Schulman, adopted from Russia, there are far more villains, of which make the show irresistible to watch.
7. Kalon McMahon: The Bachelorette Season 8- Emily Maynard
Kalon didn't have to do much for my dislike to become apparent. Bachelorette Emily, a single mother and widower, took her chances to find love for a second time. Luckily, the show stopped taping in Los Angeles to resume taping in her hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina, in order for the single mom to be home raising her daughter. However, as the adventure of the show continued, the group of men and Emily traveled to London where Kalon made a negative remark regarding Emily's daughter, calling her "baggage." In other words, calling her a burden on Emily's life. This not only ticked Emily off, and sent him home immediately, but ticked me off, as any child born on this Earth is and always will be a miracle.
6. Courtney Robertson: The Bachelor Season 16- Ben Flajnik
There are many things I can say about Courtney. Not only was she rude and self-centered, but she was extremely manipulative. Ben didn't see through her manipulative ways, as he gave her the final rose. Their engagement was short-lived. Additionally, her catchphrase, "winning" was extremely obnoxious and inappropriate to the other contestants.
5. Kelsey Poe: The Bachelor Season 19-Chris Soules
Before I declare why I dislike Kelsey, I do sympathize with her as she lost her husband in May 2013. However, what she said to Chris about her husband's death is rather disturbing. Kelsey opened up to Chris in a gleeful tone when she said, "Isn't it amazing? Tragic, but amazing. I love my story!" I'm sorry, but the death of a spouse is never an amazing story. From that moment on, she rubbed me the wrong way.
4. Justin "Rated R" Rego: The Bachelor Season 6- Ali Fedotowsky
The whole idea of the show is to dedicate time to potentially find love with the assigned Bachelor or Bachelorette. Clearly, Justin did not get the memo on the premise of the show. He confesses about his long-term relationship with a girlfriend back home only after Ali was warned from the girlfriend herself. Nice job Justin.
3. Joe Bailey: The Bachelorette Season 11- Kaitlyn Bristowe and Bachelor in Paradise (BIP) Season 2
Joe is the definition of a player. He "formed" a connection with the sweet and humble single mother, Juelia Kinney. He continues to play Julia to ultimately get her rose so he could stay in the competition and have a nice vacation while doing so. As soon as Samantha arrived in Mexico, Joe immediately dropped Juelia and made a play for Samantha, who fell for his mind games.
2. Corinne Olympios: The Bachelor Season 21-Nick Viall
There was something I disliked about Corinne from the moment she walked out of the limo on night one. Others looked up to her for her cheesy pasta obsession, laid-back persona, and queen of naps. However, I found her to be quite obnoxious, sharing her intimate time with Nick to the other girls in the house. On top of that, she felt the need to remove her bikini top in a bride-themed photo shoot on a group date, making everyone uncomfortable. I'm all about being 'body positive,' however, there is a difference between body positive and flaunting yourself to get a rose.
1. Chad Johnson: The Bachelorette Season 12- JoJo Fletcher
I couldn't bare to listen to his wise remarks and smug attitude both on JoJo's season and BIP ("Bachelor in Paradise"). Chad's aggressiveness was unsettling as he felt the need to pick a fight with everyone, especially Evan Bass. He also insulted JoJo by calling her "naggy." He may have had a great body, but his ego was sure bigger than his muscles.
**As Arie's season is underway, I am not surprised at the amount of drama only two weeks in, however, I hope he finds love in a sincere woman.**
