Ever seen a movie with absolutely zero hype, but thought it was incredible? Me too. Here are my Top 5 Underrated Movies!
1. "Interstellar"
Shout out to my wonderful boyfriend for insisting that I see this movie. At 2 hours and 49 minutes, "Interstellar" seems quite daunting. It is, however, well worth the watch and is entirely mind-blowing.
2. "A League of Their Own"
My mom always told me I could be anything I wanted to be, and this movie completely defines that feeling for me. This is the perfect feminist tale, with female leads that take their desires by storm. Based on true events, "A League of Their Own" is inspiring, compelling and entirely empowering.
3. "Take Shelter"
"Take Shelter" is a haunting film about a man who is plagued nightly by his worst fears. This film explores the powerful themes of trust, sanity and reality. For those who appreciate incredible dramatic acting and film making, this will be a true stand out.
4. "Punch-Drunk Love"
This film is another recommendation by my significant other. Thanks for coming in clutch with the movies, hun. "Punch-Drunk Love" is the most emotionally realistic movie that is set in entirely unrealistic circumstances.
Paul Thomas Anderson uses script, acting and film style to place the watcher within the circumstances of the plot. I watched this movie, captivated and shocked, as Adam Sandler portrayed an emotional experience so absorbing that I forgot I was watching a movie. I definitely recommend this movie to anyone who likes a good drama.
5. "Anne of Green Gables"
This is technically a movie series, however, I could not leave out the epitome of my childhood, "Anne Of Green Gables." This movie series is Canadian made, which is a big reason why it is so under-viewed in the U.S. I do definitely recommend it if you a looking for a truly beautiful experience.
