If you've spent more than five minutes on Grand Canyon University's campus, you know that the Havocs are a force to be reckoned with. In fact, SB Nation called them "the biggest party in college basketball" in January 2016! Seriously, why wouldn't you want to be a part of that? Here are the top 5 reasons why you should join the Havocs:

1. Havocs know how to party.

From the Purple Pre-Game Party to the mass of purple and black storming the court after the game, the Havocs bring the party with them everywhere they go.

2. They bleed purple.

Before every home men's basketball game, the Havocs can be seen crowding the quad as they paint their bodies and faces, deck out in gear for whatever spirit night comes their way, and generally get HYPED for the game. There is no one on campus that bleeds purple more than these dedicated fans.

3. They really get to know the other team.

The Havoc leaders know what's up when it comes to digging up dirt on the other team. Havocs can be sure to find several hundred printouts scattered throughout the seats that contain all sorts of information about the opposing team's players. Everything from home addresses to girlfriends, siblings, and parents can be found on these incredibly important documents -- and trust me, the Havocs find a way to make fun of the players no matter what.

4. They ROCK spirit nights.

Throughout the basketball season, The Havocs have a multitude of spirit nights. That might include America Night (featuring Thunder in Captain America attire), Night at the Hamptons, 80's Night, and the ever-popular Blackout. Even if you don't have much of your own costume (and yes, I do mean costume), have no fear-- the Havoc leaders are sure to have a few key items to ensure you're properly decked out.

5. They know how to do community.

Not only do the Havocs bring the thunder on game nights, but they also bring the thunder when it comes to serving the community. Throughout basketball season, the Havocs arrange several local outreach days where members have the opportunity to do things like visiting children's shelters, serving the homeless, and helping out at the annual Best Buddies Run.

So if you're a proud Grand Canyon Lope, DO NOT DELAY when signing up to be a Havoc. The experience is priceless, and even if you don't necessarily like basketball, being a part of the Havocs is something that makes it all worthwhile. So bring your purple, your spirit, and all the screams and cheers you can muster, and I'll see you in the stands -- LOPES UP!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
