I moved to Boston last month from Western Mass and since I've been here, I have officially discovered my top 5 Bostonian gems. Some are more touristy than others. Some are for those with a particular interest. Some are just stunning, however you slice it. The next time you visit Boston, give these gorgeous places a try!
1. Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum
The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is located on the Green Line at the Museum of Fine Arts MBTA stop. Not only is there a gorgeous park outside, but its proximity to the MFA is also incredibly nice for an afternoon of culture and art. The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is one of the greenest, most beautiful places in all of Boston with its antique collection and beautiful scenery. I easily could spend hours just taking it all in. Free admission for anyone named Isabella.
2. Harvard Square
Harvard Square is perhaps the MOST touristy spot in Boston, but it is definitely worth the trip. It is located on the Red line at the Harvard MBTA stop. With one of the most iconic universities in the United States, you can take a picture with the John Harvard statue, look around the law school and education school, and get some great food around the area. And you are only a 10 minute walk from the Charles River and the iconic Memorial Bridge.
3. Faneuil Hall
Faneuil Hall is located on the Orange and Blue Line MBTA station at State. There are several markets and great food, great music, and great shopping. You can get some great seafood, hear some wonderful saxophone playing, and even see a Shark Tank funded business. Definitely worth a trip for the food alone.
4. Sam Adams Brewery
The Sam Adams Brewery Tour is located on the Orange Line MBTA near Stony Brook. It's a pretty quick walk from the T station and is only a $3 donation. For that $3, you get to try 3 different types of Sam Adams AND you get to keep the glass as a free keepsake. Don't forget to stop by the gift shop at the end of the tour and pick up some merchandise of a Boston beer!
5. Museum of Bad Art
The Museum of Bad Art is located in the basement of the Davis Square movie theatre and features horribly drawn, horribly made pictures, sculptures, and objects. If you have time to kill before going to see a movie, check it out. You will be so happy that you did.
