It's almost 2018, and my loyal readers know what that means. Yes, you are correct, my golf predictions article is here. Only one of my 2017 predictions came true, so I am gonna dial it back on the predictions and make it more realistic, nothing too crazy. Again, these are complete guesses, if I somehow get these right, I would have somehow surprised myself. Anyways, enough babbling, here are my five predictions.
1. Tiger Woods will win a tournament in 2018.
Yes, another comeback for Tiger Woods is here. His showing at his own Hero World Challenge proves that he still has what it takes to compete on the PGA Tour. For that reason, I believe he will win a tournament in 2018, but notice how I didn't include an (s) with that. Just one tournament and it probably won't be a major. The talent is too deep nowadays, and Tiger is not the longest player in the field distance wise. He's gonna have to rely on his overall game to get it done all four days.
2. Phil, Jordan, or Rory will complete the grand slam, but it will only be one of them.
So let's review who needs what. Jordan Spieth needs the PGA Championship, Rory Mcilroy needs the Masters, and of course, Phil Mickelson needs the U.S. Open to complete the career grand slams. However, I am going to say only one of them will end up completing this task. Who am I leaning towards? Jordan Spieth. A bunch of close finishes without any heartbreaking moments has him the closest to the grand slam compared to the other two, and he has the most time, so you know, more chances to win it.
3. Jamie Sadlowski will earn his PGA Tour Card in 2018.
All you crazed golf fans out there know Jamie Sadlowski. The three-time long drive champion is now trying to play his way onto the PGA Tour. Although not much tournament experience, his gaming swing does really look impressive. If he just works on his short game, especially his putting, he can definitely compete out there on the highest tour. The ridiculous distance is only gonna help him once he has that short game down.
4. Lexi Thompson will win multiple LPGA majors in 2018.
Although a really impressive 2017, there were a lot of moments for Lexi that reminds me of Dustin Johnson the multiple times before he won his first major title. Lexi, in my opinion, is the LPGA equivalent of Dustin Johnson. A lot of heartbreaks, but always manages to come back and show the world her grit. This is why she will win multiple majors in 2018, this is her year to shine, even better than this year.
5. Rickie Fowler will win his first major, along with the best year he's ever had.
Rickie, it is your time to shine too. You are way too talented to not have a major, and I truly believe this is your year. My guess is it will be at the U.S. Open, but any of the majors will be good too. That 62 at the Hero World Challenge can only be a look up in his game, and its time for it to be in the spotlight.
