To Towson's Class of 2018

We made it!

Three years ago, we were anxiously awaiting move in. In fact, at this time three years ago, we didn't even know who our roommates were or where we were going to live. We went through a lot when we were freshman. Towson was a little different. Here is what we had to deal with when we came to school.

1. Jimmy's Cab

I would like to thank Uber for becoming as popular as it is now. When we were freshman, a line of Jimmy's cabs would take over Cross Campus Drive. You probably had the number of a cab driver in your phone so he could take you to the Colonies. You were always annoyed because they never used a meter- they would pick a random price for you all to pay. A $5 Uber ride from Towson to the Colonies would actually be $5 per PERSON in a Jimmy's Cab. Major rip offs. Also, creepy drivers.

2. Rec Wasn't Relevant

When we were freshmen, Rec wasn't even a thing. Torrent was actually popular and people would go to Rec for day drinks. Now, the line for Rec passes Torrent.

3. Addresses

Remember when you had to text your friends for addresses? You were considered cool if you knew 3 places for a disgusting college party.

4. 616 Bridgeman Terrace

No matter what was going on, you knew 616 would have people over. And the best part? They owned a dog named Pickles.

5. Blounge

Party got busted? Looks like you were going to the sweaty, underage place of Uptown. You just waited until the day you could get into Turtle.

6. Yik Yak

Major throwback. Yik Yak was basically an anonymous Twitter sorted by location. Every time you thought of deleting Yik Yak, you thought of something hilarious to post. Your confidence would sky rocket when you made the Top Yaks.

7. Ptux

The day you actually discovered where/ what Ptux was, your life changed. However, it took you until Sophomore year to figure out the time when the pasta line wasn't out the door.

8. Getting lost

Do no lie to yourself. It's senior year and you may or may not get lost in the LA building.

9. TSEM

You probably forgot about the class you could not get out of. But hey, it's over now.

10. Cars

We could actually have cars on campus back then. But the worst part is if you lived in Prettyman and had to park your car in West Village.

11. No Lotsa

We are so privileged now. We didn't have Losta, Slice or Dominos. Remember Pizzans? I'm pretty sure the sign still says "will open soon".

We have the luxury life now. We are finally being 21 and can go to turtle. We can use Uber and we have access to quality pizza. However, the one thing we had that the current freshman don't have:

ACCESS TO WEST VILLAGE BRIDGE AND GLEN BRIDGE!

Congratulations, we made it.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
