Sometimes, they say the best way to get your emotions out is to speak what's on your mind. So, here's to anyone who might be stuck in the same path I am right now. It's okay to feel lost and confused, sometimes you feel really alone. If you're anything like me, it feels like you're on the losing side.

The best and worst thing to do in a situation like this, is to bury yourself in other activities. It's amazing because it allows you to feel free and not think about your feelings. That being said, it helps you ignore them which is a terrible idea in the long run. If you ignore your feelings long enough and you bury yourself deep enough in other priorities, it can end in terrible breakdowns and long periods of time where you can feel beat down and defeated.

The most important thing to do is take care of yourself. Self-care trumps anything and everything else. If you're not actively caring for yourself, people can tell and it affects you negatively. You're not being your best self and you're not putting out your best energy. Even small things to help you feel better can make a big difference between whether you have a good day or a bad day. Always understand that you taking care of yourself is not selfish, most times it is not only for the best but necessary.

Personally, I bury myself in work when I start to feel down. It allows me to not think about how I'm feeling and gives me the opportunity to do well at my job, which in turn helps me feel better about my current situation. The issue with this is that I work absolutely crazy hours and don't allot time for myself or anyone else. This causes me to burn out and keeps me from doing anything besides my set work and school schedule.

It is also important to note, as this plays a big part in how I feel sometimes, that people do not define you. Just because someone has decided to cut ties with you does not mean that you have done something wrong but that they have; they are losing out on an amazing individual. All you can do is try, but remember to not lose sleep for people who would not lose sleep for you.

You are beautiful, you are worth it.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
