To the teachers who taught me how to write, there’s been quite a few of you.
To the teacher who taught me all the rules of English: punctuation, organization, structure, grammar, you showed me the basis to any good research paper, and that no matter how difficult they may be to formulate, hard work pays off. You taught me that every idea is a valid idea, and to share them in class for we never know where our ideas will take us.
To the teacher who reignited my interest in creative writing, you taught me that writing outside of the form of a research paper or constructed response still exists. You showed us how to make classic literature relevant to our own lives. You taught us how to write from the heart and speak from the mind.
To the teacher who taught me how to write in a journalistic style, you introduced to me a new way of writing which I learned to love. You pushed me outside of my comfort zone when conducting interviews and taught me how to go out and look for news. You validated my intention of being a communications major and introduced me to another way of writing to expand my interests.
To the teacher who taught me that grades aren’t as important as witnessing improvement, you taught me how to better my writing by looking deeper into analysis and the art of language. As much as I may have wanted to at some times, you taught me not to give up. You taught me that hard work pays off and can be measured not with a grade, but with self accomplishment.
To the teachers who taught me how to write, it is to you that I owe appreciation and I hope that our love for English never ceases.
