To The Strong Women In My Life

Dear Strong Women In My Life,

Even though National Women’s Day is behind us, I think that it is important to continue to acknowledge strong women like you more than just once a year. You are the people who empower all of us to get up on every Tuesday/Thursday morning and show that 9:00 a.m. class who is boss. You are the real superheroes and you deserve a proper thank you.

There are many women in our lives who we look up to.

There are the women who have inspired you for your entire life.

For many, this is your mother or grandmother. These women are the ones who you have to thank for pretty much everything. You grew up watching these women take life by the horns and really conquer any problem that is put in their way. You sat on their bedroom floor as they got ready for work, packed your lunch for school, and did countless other mundane life tasks. You idolized the way they just knew how to do everything and you hoped that one day you would be as wise and knowing as them. Yet, the most enchanting quality of these women is their never-ending love. This is the woman who you call when you think that you did badly on a test, when are sick while you’re away at school, or if you just need a pick me up. This woman showers you with her love and you instantly feel as though you can move mountains. Thank you to all of these women.

There are the women who are inspiring you now.

These are the women who we have met along the way. These may be best friends, sorority sisters, or people who we just met in passing. These are the women who are making a difference in this world. If you know one of these women personally, then you should consider yourself lucky. These are the women who are giving up their own spring breaks to go help the less fortunate, the ones who call and check in on you while you’re sick, and the ones who push you to do better. These women are the ones who you will read about when you're older. They will accomplish things that we can only dream of and we will all feel blessed to have crossed their paths. Thank you to all of these women.

There is you, who is reading this right now.

You are amazing. You are a hard working woman who deserves the best that this life has to offer, not 77 percent of what life has to offer. You are beautiful on the inside and out. Although you may not know it, you are inspiring others every day. Somewhere in your life, there is a little girl who looks at you and thinks, “I want to be like her when I grow up.”

Let's continue to make that little girl proud

Let's continue to inspire others.

Let's continue to help each other up instead of tear each other down.

Let's close the pay gap.

Let's move mountains.

Let's compliment each other with honesty.

Let's discover new things.

Let's do it all together.

Sincerely,

An Inspired Woman

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
