Dear Mom,

Recently, it was your birthday, and I couldn’t have been more blessed to have you as my role model, a mother and a friend. I now know and realize that every moment we have shared whether it was good or bad, has shaped me into who I truly am. I’m very thankful that I have YOU as a best friend, biggest supporter, someone who gives me unconditional love and a mother in one. There are not enough words to describe the way you take care of and understand me. No one knows me better than you, and no one ever will. The relationship that we have as mother and daughter is something I wouldn’t trade for the world.

Whether it be a busy Monday or a lazy Sunday, it was you 24/7 that took care of me and motivated me whenever I didn’t feel like studying or doing my homework. You always know when something is bothering me, and you know the perfect way to cheer me up and make me laugh. When I was little, I used to be so scared of telling you what happened at school, however, you found a way to allow myself to open up to you. I just don’t understand how you do that. As a kid, I would always lose my toys or homework, however, you would always find it. My brother and I called it “MAGICAL MOM.”

You still to this day sacrifice everything for me by taking me to dance classes or picking and dropping me at school. Even when we are going to the mall, you always find clothes for me even though I tell you to go and look for yourself. THANK YOU for caring and making my childhood experiences the best. My childhood amazes me and still does to this day.

Best for the last, you let me be me. You have always told me that I am beautiful just the way I am, and there is nothing for me to change. “If someone wants you to change, tell that person they need to first change themselves because nothing can be wrong with you.” You protect me, but also let me be independent. You know what is right and wrong. And despite all the little fights we have almost once a week, we both know that we will always stick together because you are my peanut to my butter. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING…. I LOVE YOU, MOM.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
