Mothers are kind and compassionate. They are loving and giving of everything they can offer. They set an example for their children and pray that they follow in that example. They’re the ones that picked us up and kissed our scrapes and told us everything was going to be OK. They were the ones that held us when we cried, when we realized a kiss couldn’t solve a life crisis. They will always be our biggest cheerleader and our go-to supporter.
In this wild adventure we all call life, I’m beyond thankful that I was blessed with the woman that will always support me, will always hold me if I need to cry and will put her life on hold to make sure that mine doesn’t have to. You never cease to amaze me. You continuously, day after day, put everyone before yourself in hopes of bettering the lives of others. You love unconditionally and never fail to put a smile on my face.
You didn’t have to be the sports mom, the one that ran us to every practice, game, conditioning in the off season and let everyone of us play on three different teams if that’s what would make us happy. You showed up to every game with a smile and a post-game snack as if it was your life calling to raise a bunch of kids in sweaty uniforms. You didn’t have to quit your career to stay home and take care of us, but you knew it would build a relationship and a bond that we couldn’t have had otherwise. You didn’t have to always set an example, but you did without fail.
You gave up your life and let us consume the freedom that you had to provide us with everything we could have ever asked for. You taught me what a lady should be, you taught me how to love and you taught me to always put others before myself. You didn’t know that after all of these years, you would be looking at all of your children, mostly grown, wondering where the time has all gone. But I can assure you that it was time we will never forget. Times of laughing and crying, vacations and road trips, soccer games and volleyball tournaments. All making up years and years of endless memories.
So thank you, Mom. Thank you for never giving up. Thank you for always being our rock and our cheerleader. Thank you for making us laugh and always setting an example. Thank you for kissing our scrapes and holding us when we realized that trick didn’t actually work. Thank you for loving us unconditionally, and thank you for always being by our side. Some day when we’re all older and wiser than we are today, I hope I can be half the woman that you are today. I love you, happy Mother’s Day.
With love and admiration,
Your favorite child
