To the kid...

Who is scared to go back this school year, just take it one step at a time.

Who is disappointed that they will be missing out on so many pivotal moments, take it upon yourself to make some magical memories elsewhere- the smallest things can make the biggest impact.

Who is forced to take classes from home and just wants to be out of this nightmare, it will all end eventually.

Who has chosen to take classes from home for whatever your reason may be, your decision is the best thing for you and not something to be ashamed of.

Who is mourning the loss of a loved one from Covid, you can grieve in any way you have to.

Who is battling Coronavirus/recovering from it, you have more strength than you could ever know.

To the parent...

Who is hesitant to send their child back into the uncertain waters of the new school year, it's completely understandable to have those worries.

Who now has to teach their child from home, I wish you all the luck in the world.

Who is in uncertain waters themselves, whether it be from a loss of a job or less money than usual, it's okay if everything isn't figured out in one day; it hardly ever is.

Who is battling Coronavirus/recovering from it, you have more strength than you could ever know.

To the teacher...

Who is anxiously awaiting the start of the school year and what may happen, you are brave for continuing to teach the future of our world and are doing a great job for what you've been given.

Who is frustrated with having to keep teaching online, it may be harder, but it isn't impossible.

Who is relieved to be teaching online this semester so everyone stays safe, I already know you'll go above and beyond to get the job done.

Who is doing whatever they can to figure out this situation, even if it doesn't go 100% right, it will still be okay in the end.

Who is battling Coronavirus/recovering from it, you have more strength than you could ever know.

To the rest of the country...

Who has made this pandemic last much longer than it should have been, please do what you can to actually help instead of hurt this situation; stop disregarding all the other people around you.

Lastly, to the kid...

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
