That light that used to fill your heart, that twinkle in your eyes, the clarity that you used to clear your mind it may be gone right now, but don’t worry it’ll all be okay.

You’re giddiness, playfulness, and confidence in yourself has faded. The way you laugh at yourself when you’re embarrassed or make a mistake or your use of sass to defend yourself has diminished. But it will come back one day.

The happiness that you’ve lost will come back to you too. I’m not trying to say that you’re unhappy but there’s something different about you. You don’t carry yourself the same way and it’s hard to put it into words. I can tell that it’s hard for you to describe how you feel.

You’re just… off.

Remember, this is just a phase and it will pass. Nothing lasts forever. This isn’t the first time that your mood has changed or that you’ve felt as though your world is crumbling all around you. This isn’t the first time everything you’ve come to believe has been proven false. So why does this time feel so right?

We can’t always expect to feel the same way. That’s just not how this crazy journey called life works. Life throws us curveballs and it’s sometimes they are going to be more than we ever want to deal with. We’re going to fall, we’re going to fail, we’re going to climb and sometimes we’ll just be off. That’s just how it is.

Our moods will change but our personalities will not. Someday, you’ll come back to yourself. Just give it time. Nothing worth it comes over night. Nothing worth it is ever easy.

I believe that while we change externally all the time, we never truly change internally. I know that might seem a bit extreme. But I think that we are simply an improvement of our infant self. That who we were as an infant, as a child, is still inside our adult selves. That we have just developed into a more improved version of that person. We will always develop, but we will never change.

So we’re going to be off every now and then. That’s part of the improvement stages.

You will get there. You’re just not there quite yet. Someday soon you’ll be back to yourself. Don’t give up just yet. Keep your dreams alive.

One day you’ll laugh like you used to. You’ll play like you always have. You’ll love with like you’ve always wanted. You won’t hold back anymore.

One day, that light in your heart will return. That twinkle in your eyes will be seen across the room. You’ll find that clarity needed to clear your mind. You’ll have your giddiness and confidence back. One day, you’ll laugh off that mistake and your sass will be back. It might take a while, but one day you’ll be back to yourself.

You’ll come back to the person you once were.
