So, just to call you out, Mrs. "C's get degrees," I couldn't disagree with you more. Do you think it's cute to spend 50,000 dollars on your college education to be a below average student? Do you think it's worth 50,000 dollars to not try your best?
I don't. "C's get degrees" is a horrible mindset to have. Okay so you're passing, congratulations, we can all do that. But are you trying? Are you wasting your time on your education to just get by? So, you were a 4.0 student in high school, and you're right college is whole different ball game and it should be. College is a privilege. Not everyone in the world gets to go to a university to get a sound education. And that mindset? You're throwing your education in the garbage.
College is not high school, you're right. However, a responsible person would understand that and know that in order to excel in college, you have to put in the work. You have to study for every exam, do your homework, and finish your homework to the best of your ability. It isn't enough to do your regular regimen you were used to in high school. College is the real deal. You have to apply, you need the grades, you need the resume, that's why some kids get into good schools and some don't. So maybe GPA doesn't matter, but it certainly shows your work ethic. Getting a 2.0 in college shows that you're lazy, and have no willpower. Going to college is not your high school AP class. There isn't anyone holding your hand, or throwing out extra credit, or giving you an A because they are too lazy to grade your homework
If you want a degree. You HAVE TO EARN IT. It's bull crap that people think it's okay to go from a straight A student to a B- C+ student. When you get a real job and they realize you don't have the work ethic to get shit done, it'll show in your performance throughout college. Did you study? Did you commit yourself? Did you strive to be the best student you could possibly be?
Wether or not you think it matters, it does. Attending the right universety and doing well, shows employers what kind of person you are. Do you just get by? Or do you work hard to show your potential. Having the "C's get degrees" mindset is failing. You're giving up. It's possible to be a straight A student in college, but it takes dedication and hardwork. Half assing your homework doesn't fly in college. You have to earn your right to a degree, and if you don't strive to be your best, you don't deserve a degree.
So, "C's get degrees" huh? Put that on your resume and see what your future employer thinks. Odds are, they'll throw your resume right out the window. Do your best, be your best, and strive to be better. C's may get degrees, but it certaintly doesn't demonstrate work ethic or self discipline.
