To the friends that we met in college that became so much more than just a Friday night hangout, thank you for helping us find our home away from home. College is hard enough without the familiarity of your family in your everyday life. Everyone tells you to go to college and find your niche and that it will help you find your people. No one ever tells you though that the friends that you meet in college will become your lifelong friendships.
Finding the friends that always go the extra mile to make sure you survive day to day. The ones that carry you off to the emergency room when you’re dying and refuse to go to the doctor by yourself. The ones that hold your hair back while you regret that extra shot you took from the cute boy at the bar. The ones that send you links to your favorite store when the top you were looking at through the window goes on sale. The ones that always make sure your thought of.
These friends always have a shoulder waiting for you to lean on when your world feels like its crashing down. They are always the first one’s their when the cute boy from the bar breaks your heart. You can always count on them to be ready with the ice cream and tissues. Got a bad grade on your final exam? Don’t worry you have some one waiting to take you out dancing and to vent about how school is pointless and y’all should both just drop out.
They will always be your biggest supporters. Knowing when you make a dance team or plan on performing your favorite song on karaoke night that they will have the biggest sign in the crowd and will be screaming for you the entire time you’re on stage. Not worrying about coming up with a crazy plan to travel the world because they will probably be the one sitting next to you on the plane circling the best places to get pizza in Italy. Not being afraid to tell them you think you found the one guy you see in your future forever because they probably picked out the ring they think you’d like and sent it to your soon to be hubby.
Realizing that no matter what happens in the future, if you pick up the phone and call them they will be there. No matter what they are family regardless of the distance.
