You are so much more than just a pretty face.

I have always struggled with my self-esteem. Not one day goes by where I don't think about my body and my grades and all those things that make a person insecure at one point or another. My self-esteem really depends on my moods a lot of the time. I can go one day with feeling really happy and the other I can be laying in bed not wanting to get up because I don't like myself.

If you have low self-esteem, just know this. You aren't alone. Sometimes you may feel like the stress is getting to you and maybe it is. Stress is one of the key elements that can make someone feel insecure. I know when I get stressed, especially around finals, I can never feel good about myself. I feel sick, agitated, and just plain annoyed. This can lead to feeling bad about yourself.

When a girl goes off to a university, she may feel very confident her freshman year. She is all happy because she gets to live in a dorm, which can sometimes be a lot better than living at home, and she can be whoever she wants to be. It is said that by her senior year, she doesn't feel as confident about herself. Well, I think that can be changed. Nobody should be made to feel bad about being independent and on their own.

Social media can be really difficult because it is a 24-hour new network basically showing off what you have accomplished or what happened to you that day. It can be hard for a girl to know what makes her acceptable in a world that doesn't accept many things. You have to know that what people show on there is not a reflection of who they are or you are. A girls self-esteem really boils down to her own opinion of herself. College can be an especially hard place to fit in when you were born to stand out. So get out there and show them who you are.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
