To The College Girl Who Is ALWAYS Worried

Being nervous is all a part of the experience.

Being social is hard in college, but by the power vested in me, go forth and take the first step!

I have always been the most nervous person around. I literally have gotten stomach aches and headaches from being so nervous about being other people's friends or at least trying to be. People have never been easy to me. I have always been someone who kept to themselves. I mean, even during my piano recitals, I would literally have to mentally force myself into this place where nervousness went into the background.

I had never really been the person to go out and seek friendship wherever I could find it. That is probably one of the most nerve wracking things about college. College, you find your people that are just in the same place as you, doing the same things. The hack is finding the people who are willing to open themselves up to others. One thing I don't like are close minded people. Those who shut themselves down are automatically telling others that they don't play well. For me, I have to get over my fears of people not accepting me, because not everybody does. It's like a preference for people.

When it comes down to being nervous about tests and anxiety from it, it can be crazy to assume that the sole reason for this is just that. The combination of a number of things can lead to anyone to finally break. I have learned that staying calm has always helped the mind relax. It is almost too simple but I have had moments where the only thing to do was take a break and relax. What this leads to is an increase in productivity and a better well being overall.

For those college students who feel that they don't or can't handle the college life because of their nervousness, please remember that it is OK and things will get better.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
