To Dad, From A Daddy's Girl

My dad is a superhero with a transparent cape only I can see. My dad is brilliant and charismatic. I love my dad for a million reasons and more and because of him I able to do what I love with support and guidance every step of the way. When days pass that I feel less of who I am supposed to be, my dad is the first person to call.

So here's to a guy I could never stop loving.

Dear Dad,

Thank you for all the blessings you have given me in life. Your teachings are something I plan to follow forever. Your guidance and direction in life are admirable. I never put into perspective how much I needed you for those. Whether it be deciding a major in college or what color Nike sneakers to buy, I could always count on you to help me make the better decision. You don't get enough credit for all that you do and maybe it's because you remind us not to be thankful and instead but appreciative. I love watching versions of you in myself. From cheering on the Cubs to a World Series victory while sobbing of the thought of your happiness in that moment to always pursuing guidance in the lives of others around me. You have taught me so much about life that has empowered me to grow to be strong and independent. You taught me the importance of family and how no matter where life takes you or what path you take, family is always there.

You also taught me the importance of being a leader and not a follower because those who lead tend to succeed more. Your lessons shine brightly through my daily life as I carry myself with a piece of you. I know I can't smart off to people unless I prove to the world how smart I am. I work hard and strive to be better just to make you proud. You deserve to see your work as a father succeed and for that, I promise to continue to go through life reminding myself of the lessons you passed down to me. Someday when I have accomplished my dream, I will be the symbol that you have accomplished yours as a father. I love you.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
