Tests. Papers. Homework assignments. Finals.
The last month of the semester is like a tornado of stress. You have at least one paper and/or test every week and finals are haunting you. It seems like yesterday that the semester just started and you had three months to finish that huge paper that is due at the end of the semester. Now you have 3 weeks. All of this is very overwhelming, you’re wondering when and how you will be able to complete your assignments and have time to study adequately; plus the lack of sleep doesn’t help. Thoughts of summer are the only thing getting you through this next month.
When I feel this way, the only way I find comfort and peace is in our heavenly father. I felt so overwhelmed one day last week, and I decided to do my devotion for that day then. The verse that went with it was Psalm 60:12. “With God’s help we will do mighty things.” This verse saved me a lot of stress, God’s timing and faithfulness proves perfect once again. He has a plan, and He is more than willing to help us. We can’t do mighty things without Him. Other verses that are comforting during this time are:
“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.” Psalm 23:1-3
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” Proverbs 16:9
So take heart, stressed out college student, and finish strong. Jesus has already proven that He will take your burdens, you just have to hand them over. He will help you in your time of trouble and give you strength. Rejoice in Him and His steadfast love and goodness.
I urge you that in this time of stress to also remember what is important. Don’t get so lost in school and life that you forget about nurturing your relationship with the Lord; spending time with Him and His word everyday will do you more good than doing your homework will. Don’t neglect your homework, but put God above it. After all, Acts 20:24 says “However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me-the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.”
You can do it!
