An Open Letter To The Students Who Have Lost Their Motivation

Problems should not be viewed as stop signs, but guidelines.

An Open Letter To The Students Who Have Lost Their Motivation

To the students who have lost motivation in life:

There are times where situations have become so difficult that you lose the strength, courage, and determination to keep going. Often you may feel exhausted, uninterested or depressed as a result of stress from assignments, exams or work.

Being able to handle one major thing is no problem, but multiple tasks at once will cause you to break down and make you want to give up, but there are many reasons why you should not. Failure should only be seen as a negative consequence of trying something you always wanted to do. Thinking about the positive moments, and the little things you accomplished throughout the day will make you feel better.

College becomes the most stressful for students at the beginning and end of each semester. While speaking with a counselor, exercising, staying healthy, and hanging out with friends are great ways to take your mind off problems, there are other helpful solutions to reignite the spark inside you, and program your mind to achieve success.

Before deciding on accomplishing a goal or project, set reminders of what you want to achieve and the steps you have to take. Plan what you want to get done. Always begin the day by waking up early, trying to help someone else, and spending at least an hour a day learning a new skill. Challenge yourself and set deadlines. After completing a small task by the deadline, make sure to reward yourself, and then repeat the process. Keeping track of goals (whether in a journal or your phone) on a consistent basis will give you determination every day to stay inspired.

Even if you do not get a high mark on a test or reach your goal in time, use this failed opportunity as a lesson to work harder, so you can do better the next time. If you are looking for additional motivation, there are books, ebooks or videos to check out. Try to meet other people like the ones from books or podcasts. Join different clubs and organizations on campus filled with smart, cool, fun, and inspirational students. You never know who you can possibly become friends or even network with, so try to find groups based on your interests.

Whenever the workload gets to be overwhelming (this is mainly due to advanced classes) staying productive, being ambitious, and maintaining a good attitude are ways to overcome these stressful times.

I am just like you, someone who needed to learn to focus on strengths rather than weaknesses.

Instead of distracting yourself with entertainment, discover your purpose and keep going forward until you achieve the things you want.

Keep moving towards your goals.

If you want to stay motivated, learn the skills you need, and do the things you love. The only thing standing in your way is you, because similar to how the only thing that can destroy iron is the rust it creates, our mindsets can stop us from living our dreams.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
